Julie and the Phantoms: Episode Rank
Hello friends, this is Abby here and today we are talking about my favorite show again! Nobody asked for it, but I really want to talk about Julie and the Phantoms again today. I wrote a little bit about the general concept of the show in my last JATP post, so if you are unfamiliar with the show I recommend you check that out first. In my last post, linked here, I talked about the songs from the show, but today I thought I would talk about the storyline. For today I am going to be ranking all the episodes so you can get more of a feel for the plot, here we go:
9th place: I Got the Music (episode 4)
Unfortunately someone had to be last, and this was it. We are introduced with 1 song in this episode, I Got the Music. But besides the song, this plot line was not my favorite. Flynn, Julie's bestie, books the band a gig at the school dance, but the boys (Luke, Alex & Reggie) are more focused on getting revenge on their old band mate. This episode did not have much to it plot wise, one of the main couples, Alex and Willie, had some really cute moments.
8th place: The Other Side of Hollywood (episode 5)
This is the episode that follows I Got the Music, so the same plot lines are still present from that episode. Being someone who loves rom-coms, school dance scenes are the most important scenes to me, and this one did not fit my standards. However I will say, watching the performance of The Other Side of Hollywood was incredibly entertaining, so this episode has that to save it. The drama with Caleb trying to steal the boy's souls is very important to the show, so I can see why it deserved almost an entire episode.
7th place: Flying Solo (episode 3)
In this episode Julie and Flynn have a disagreement and essentially Julie and her ghost band play her a song and everything works out. My favorite part was a moment between Julie and Luke when he sings one of the songs she wrote to her, it is super cute. I don't have much else to say about this episode, it was very entertaining and the song was good, but it wasn't the best of the best.
6th place: Bright (episode 2)
Julie was kicked out of her music program because she was grieving the loss of her mom and couldn't play music. After being able to play again, she decides to sing for her teacher to prove she deserves her spot. This episode is the first time we hear Julie play with the boys, and it does not disappoint. We are also introduced to Carrie, the mean girl. Carrie also has a performance in this episode, which provides for even more entertainment. Also Julie's outfit during her performance, amazing.
5th place: Finally Free (episode 6)
I loved this episode. The songs (Finally Free and All Eyes On Me) were both great, the performances were super fun to watch and the drama really picks up. Basically the problems from the dance unfold to cause some tension between Julie and the boys. We also get to learn more about Julie's mom and her relationship with her dad.
4th place: Unsaid Emily (episode 8)
Emotions are running high for this one. This episode focuses on Luke and his past. He had a conflict with his parents (more so his mom) and with Julie's help he is able to gain some closure. The song Unsaid Emily is really beautiful and watching Luke's past unfold makes it more special. Luke and Julie are also able to bond because they both feel the loss of their moms.
3rd place: Wake Up (episode 1)
As a pilot episode, this was really well done. The background of the band was set up nicely and the 2 songs (Now or Never and Wake Up) were both incredible. The first thing you see in the show are the boys performing, and that was the perfect way to start. The ending of this episode was really emotional and had a small cliff hanger, it leaves you wanting to watch the entire show in that moment.
2nd place: Edge of Great (episode 7)
This episode features Perfect Harmony, and if you read my song ranking list, you would know why this episode is so high up on this list. There is no lack of Julie and Luke moments in this episode and they are all perfection. Also things start picking up for the entire band, not just Julie and Luke, they perform Edge of Great and start to have an internet following. So everything about this episode was just amazing.
1st place: Stand Tall (episode 9)
The final episode, and what is finally it was. I was laughing, I was crying, I was singing it was a good time. Caleb did not give the boys much time before attempting to steal their souls, so they have to quickly perform one last time with Julie to go to heaven instead. Do they make it to heaven, does Caleb steal their souls, what happens to Julie when the boys are gone? All very good questions, but you have to watch the show to find the answers.
I hope you enjoys my episode ranking! I am telling you, go watch the show, you will have a new obsession. And I promise I will stop with the JATP content, I have something super special planned for my next post, so stay tuned for that! And with that my friends I wish you all a wonderful day!
